Multi-Hop Relays for LTE Public Safety Network

چکیده
Reliable and efficient communication is crucial to safety, as well as in situations involving disasters or emergencies. These situations make it particularly important that communication systems are fully operational. Given the shortcomings of public safety networks in cases of disaster, the 3GPP long term evolution (LTE) network has received a great deal of attention as a broadband access alternative for emergency situations. In this paper, we present the results of a performance evaluation using a multi-hop relay network (MRN) in the context of emergency and public safety communications. To overcome the current limitations of LTE networks and meet all public safety requirements, we propose an LTE-MRN interworking scheme that can achieve significantly better performance than the existing professional mobile radio systems, such as TETRA, APCO25, and DMR, in terms of throughput, packet loss rate, and delay.

Among various relaying architectures multi-hop moving relays can provide additional capacity for ...
متن کاملMulti-Hop Routing in Covert Wireless Networks
In covert communication, Alice tries to communicate with Bob without being detected by a warden Willie. When the distance between Alice and Bob becomes large compared to the distance between Alice and Willie(s), the performance of covert communication will be degraded. In this case, multi-hop message transmission via intermediate relays can help to improve performance. Hence, in this work multi...

This paper considers the energy minimization problem in a multi-hop wireless ad hoc network that consists of regular nodes and mobile relays. In such a network, mobile relays may relocate to optimal positions such that energy consumption for data transmission is minimized. In order to find the optimal positions for mobile relays, the mobile relay optimal relocation (MROR) problem is first defin...
